battle star galactica
This was the intro to a re imagined old time sci-fi TV show that was pretty popular in it’s day. The new version is the product of Ron Moore and David Eich. The pilot was done in a mini series and introduces us to the whole concept of the show and the main characters.
There are a few changes. The original Boomer and Starbuck were male actors. This time there female. When you see this I think you’ll agree that it was a great move on the writer’s part. The other characters are phenomenally portrayed. Admiral Adama, Apollo, Dr. Baltar etc. do a fantastic job.
The very cool thing about this series is that it is not special effects driven. Far from it. It is totally character driven and as a result the sci-fi aspect of the series fits seamlessly together. I have found that those who watch it become totally enthralled with it and have endured the waiting for the complete release of the entire series.
The premise of the series is that man created robot slaves ( Cylons ) and as they progressed the became sentient and rose up against their makers and revolted. This turned into a very bloody war that raged until in the heat of battle, the Cylons called a truce and simply left. There was an agreement that the humans and Cylons would meet once a year at a designated base in deep space where they would work on there relationship. Every year the humans send a representative and the Cylons send nobody. This has been going on for 40 years. This is where the mini series starts.
Thus begins one of the greatest sci-fi series every thought up.
